  1. Hi Lori,

I'm a member of the team at GoConqr - a free online learning platform. I just wanted to share a link to our suite of tools, many of which would be extremely useful for teachers and students of English as a second language (Flashcards, Mind Maps, Quizzes, Group Sharing, etc).

Check out the following link if you're interested:

    https://www.goconqr.com/en/teach/english-as-a-second-language-free-esl-resources/

And please feel free to share it with your readers if you feel it would be useful to them.

    Regards,
    Micheál.

  3. Hello Lori,

My name is Qiuying Wu and I am a student in the Masters of Teaching program at University of Toronto. I’m currently looking for potential participants to interview for a research paper on supporting ELL students. I’m contacting you because I noticed you have experience teaching English as a second language, and I thought you may have some expertise in this area. The purpose of my study is to explore how a small sample of elementary teachers support ELL students' English proficiency and academic learning across subject areas. Would you be willing to participate in a short (30 minute) interview? I am especially looking for participants who meet the following criteria:

    1. Teachers who have worked with a mixed population of ELL and English speaking students in a homeroom where English is the language of instruction for more than 5 years.
    2. Teachers who have had experience working within the range of Grades 3-6.
    3. Teachers who have demonstrated leadership or expertise in the improvement of overall academic achievement of ELL students.

If you are interested in this research and meet any of the above criteria, please contact me by responding to qy.wu@mail.utoronto.ca. More detailed information about the interview will be sent to you later. Additionally, if you think of anyone else who meets my participant criteria, I would appreciate your recommendation very much. Thank you for your consideration!

    Sincerely,
    Qiuying Wu

  5. Hi!

I'm the manager of a site called Early-Childhood-Education-Degrees.com. We have a variety of resources for those pursuing degrees in education, as well as those more generally interested in the subject matter.

We recently published an infographic that I think your audience might enjoy. It's titled "food for thought" and looks at federal lunch programs(history, current spending, and so forth). The infographic may be found here: http://www.early-childhood-education-degrees.com/school-lunch-program/
Let us know if you would like to share this graphic on your blog or social media. We would be happy to create a writeup for the graphic.

Let us know if you have any questions, thanks!

    Best,

  6. Hi Lori,

Your blog is extremely helpful and very informative! I am going into my 3rd year teaching ENL in New York State. I was wondering if you have any goal tracking sheets for ELLs or any insight as to track progress for ELLs.

    Thank you!
    Jess
